Deerwood Ave. Louisville, 40205 October 2002 I have been losing sleep over airplane noise lately. I am really surprised that they have allowed this to happen. I have lived here for about two years and I have just started to notice this recently. Would the expansion plans for the airport be causing this? Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 October 2002 We have had UPS flights flying over Clarksville tonight since about 11:15 p.m. It is about 1:00 a.m. now I guess. I just wanted to report it to you. There is no since calling me back. Just wanted to let you know that when this happens we are awake over in Clarksville. I just want you to make a record of this to let people know I am reporting it. Obviously it was a weather condition tonight. E. Riverside Drive Jeffersonville, 47130 October 2002 I want to report those lousy UPS planes flying over last night. That is about all I have to say. If you have any comments you can give me a call. Mile Creek Westport, 40077 October 2002 I am tired of these low flying planes and helicopters flying over my house. This happens all the time and, I fear that they may be causing structural damage to my house. The latest one flew over today at about 4:00 p.m. They range from Piper Cubs to military Helicopters. Deertrace Lane Fischerville, 40023 October 2002 We used to live really close to the airport and we moved out here to get away from the noise. I would like to know what has changed within the flight path of the airplanes in the last few months that would cause me to be getting the planes flying over now. Preston Hwy Louisville, 40217 October 2002 What is that big mound of dirt and brown fence over by the airport? If that is going to be a retention pond then haven't they thought about the birds on approach? Eculid Ave. Louisville, 40208 October 2002 Planes flying low over my house. This started at 3:00 a.m. and at 5:20 a.m. they are still flying low over my house. I want to make a formal complaint and ask that you call me. Northwestern Pkwy Louisville, 40212 October 2002 Why are the planes so loud and low today? It's not cloudy. They are driving me NUTS! Do I need to file a complaint with UPS? E. Riverside Drive Jeffersonville, 47130 October 2002 Those lousy blankity blank UPS planes kept me awake a great deal during the night last night. Whats the problem over there? Why were they taking off towards the north this morning? Give me a call and let me know why they were going to the north last night. Fetter Ave Louisville, 40217 October 2002 I regret that I will not be able to attend tonights group meeting but still have concerns. In past meetings, I have viewed all the routes that feed the east runway approach and each route shows that the noise levels exceed the recommendations set forth by federal government standards of 65 decibels. My question is this: When are the homes in this area going to receive monies to sound proof? When a plane takes off and your outside the noise is so loud you have to stop in mid conversation until the plane is past before you can even hear. The same goes if you are on the phone in or outside. What is being done regarding this issue? Preston Hwy Louisville, 40217 October 2002 I talked with FAA in Memphis today. They told me to voice my opinion and to let you know in writing how I feel about the final decision. That you have to decide! Well here I am and what you have decided won't work! The nerve to try to put this over the residents; that have worked all of their lives to have a nice home and you want to destroy every thing we have all work for. No one is going to sign over their Air Rights to the Airport. Just to get their homes sound proof! Our property won't be worth a Plug Nickel by the time you Guys get through with what you all are doing. I have talk to several Law Firms about this situation. They all say we have a ligament case for a Law Suit! Whether anyone has bothered to check the flight path of the jets is over the Five Hospitals down town, even in peaceful times that should not be allowed. Those Jets should be routed away from the City, our city should be a NO FLY ZONE! If you can't see that, then don't say I didn't tell you so! We are sitting Ducks for all the nuts that are out to get us. You guys have made it easy for them to do so! I would like to hear from someone that is in charge for a change of pace instead of the hand picked mouthpieces you send to cover for you. It's not going to work! Wildwood Clarksville, 47129 October 2002 Can you give me an update on the Noise Study meeting last week. Like normal theplanes over here have been unbearable. It always seems worse on Wednesday. Louisville, 40212 October 2002 The sound of the planes are so loud that the sound is shaking our home. We are afraid that the vibrations from the airplanes have caused structural damage to our home. We are now in the process of redoing the floor in our kitchen and I do believe that the vibrations from the low flying planes have caused this damage and if not the entire damage then most definitely some of it. They also cause lack of sleep for myself and my husband who has to be up early in order to get to work.... Is there a fund or will there be a fund that will be provided to insulate our home from this bothersome noise and these vibrations. I am not sure but I dont imagine that these homes in the Westend of the city were built to withstand these circumstances. I would also like to add that if the weather is bad the affects are much worse. Hope that we can find some solution to this problem soon. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 October 2002 We have UPS planes flying over and I am getting calls concerned because, I went onto my computer and checked the winds at local websites, all three of them said winds were from the north tonight at anywhere from 6 to 8 mph. Yet we still have flights coming overhead since about 10 till 11 and it has been ongoing. UPS flights are continuous now about 1 every one to two minutes. We are having a hard time understanding over here why the flights are coming in from the north with the winds from the north. E. Riverside Drive Jeffersonville, 47130 October 2002 I got your letter about the meeting coming up but I will not be able to make it. I do want to complain about those lousy UPS planes keeping me awake this morning though. Packard Ave Louisville, 40217 October 2002 Moved from Edgewood (voluntary 9 yrs, ago to get away from the noise level of air flights). Moved to Parkway Village and was enjoying my home and yard after work until 1999 when the nightmare started all over again worse than ever with the noise level. I already have lost 4 good years of my life trying to enjoy living in my home where I invested my paycheck for 30 years. By the time you finish your research, you will have done nothing for those who have suffered through this. Oh and Im sure you will end up saying the noise level was not great enough to soundproof homes or move people to another neighborhood and ended up wasting research time. If I sound angry, yes I am. I have owned two homes and the same thing has happened to me twice. Sounds like a bad investment. Ending comment: It took 9 years for the Edgewood relocate, Im almost 62 and have ended up losing my best years of enjoying "home". Thanks |
