Willow Avenue Louisville, 40204 May 2003 I live in The Dartmouth over in the Highlands. We have discussed this before, the usual pattern is to come down the river and in over downtown. About four minutes ago a Southwest came directly over on a shortcut path. That would have been about 8:03, 8:04, or 8:05 a.m. and several times over the last two or three weeks we have had flights very early in the morning come roaring over here. I just wanted you to know that someone in the tower over there is not playing by what I understand are the rules. Janis Lane Louisville, 40207 May 2003 Aircraft have been flying over my house from 11:00 p.m. until now. My understanding was that they are supposed to follow the Ohio River. We have no electrical power, and our windows are open. Using a residential path is not supposed to be done. Wildwood Drive Clarksville, 47129 May 2003 It has been almost ten years since I started having concerns about airport noise. This process just seems to move on and on. If anything, it seems to be as bad as ever. I would like for you to update me on what is going on with the report that was submitted to the FAA. The noise is corrupting, urban, and obnoxious. Trinity Park Drive Louisville, 40213 May 2003 I live here just behind Male High School off Preston Street. It is Friday about four in the morning. I grew up here all my life. The noise from the planes is just ridiculous. The planes are going off right now as we speak. This has been going on for two hours back to back. I have a real problem with this. Rankin Street Louisville, 40214 May 2003 On behalf of these large cargo planes flying over our houses at all hours starting at 3:00 a.m. and going all day. There are people in these houses and we are really tired of it. Is there anything you can do to help us? We are in the high noise area Wilder Park. We have nothing against UPS. It was good for our city but just whoever did this to us. We feel it endangers our lives. Thanks for any help. Colorado Avenue Louisville, 40208 May 2003 I live in the south end of Louisville by U of L. As I assume you know there is a flight pattern that goes directly over that area. My problem is that I hear these planes (very loudly I might add) from the hours of 8:00 p.m. until at least midnight. I am a high school student who needs as much energy as possible to get work done, and every time I start to drift off at night a plane flies past at low altitude and wakes me up. You can imagine I don't get much sleep because of this. As I already said I live very close to the U of L campus where as you can see on the map below it is very heavy populated area. Why fly planes over an area so populated when down by the Outer Loop is nowhere near as populated? Maybe you could talk to someone about rerouting the planes so that they would fly over by the Outer Loop. I have drawn an arrow on the map to the left that shows where I think airplane flight might work. Not only would doing this make more sense, but it would also make many people happier in my area because there would be less noise. The noise of the airport is affecting the lives of everyone in my area, and I assume it is your job to keep that noise down so that we Louisville residents may go about our lives as smoothly as possible. Having airplanes wake you up at odd hours is not really too desirable. Thank you for your consideration and time. Orbit Court Louisville, 40229 May 2003 I live just about a mile form the Bullitt County line. I could not get to sleep until after 5:00 a.m. this morning due to the airplane noise. It seems like something has changed recently. The planes seem closer, louder, and more frequent than they used to be. Fairmount Road Louisville, 40291 May 2003 I live southeast of the airport in the Cedar Creek area. I want to know why we have received an increase in noise in this area. I would like to get some data that shows where the aircraft are flying. I represent the Cedar Creek Preservation Society, and we feel that we are getting more than our fair share of the noise in this area. |
