Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 February 2003 We have had continuous flights overhead tonight. According to the media. (TV weather reports, internet sites) the wind at 11:00 p.m. tonight was out of the west at 7 to 13 MPH. We have had flights overhead out of the north, and this is a night when I think we should not have had these flights. With the wind out of the west those flights should have been turned around and came in from the south. This is four straight nights and we should not have had those flights tonight. Could you check that please, and see if your information agrees with the information that I have? West wind should not equate to flights from the north. Gillett Avenue Louisville, 40214 February 2003 Why are those planes coming over right now? There was a plane that went over about 4:00 p.m. that was the lowest I have seen. E. Riverside Drive Jeffersonville, 47130 February 2003 Those UPS planes woke me up again this morning. Any word on when the FAA will approve the new plan? Bonnycastle Avenue Louisville, 40205 February 2003 Most early mornings, approximately 5:00 a.m. I frequently hear jets take-off at or about 5:00 a.m. almost every morning. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 February 2003 We have the UPS planes flying over tonight. This is Tuesday night. The weather forecasters said that at 11:00 p.m. the wind was out of the south but by midnight it would be shifting out of the north. I wonder if you would not mind making sure that does happen, and do they turn the runways around. Right now it is almost midnight and the planes are still flying overhead from the north so we are still getting it over in Clarksville. I would be curious to see that if the wind does shift, if they turn the field around and bring the planes out of the south. Fairmount Road Louisville, 40291 February 2003 From about 3:30 to 5:30 a.m. the noise coming from airplanes taking off is deafening. It seems like something has changed in the last 2 or 3 weeks. I have lived here for about a year and it seems like just recently they have not been rotating the flights like they should be. Belgravia Court Louisville, 40208 February 2003 Please note that on this clear evening, we were awakened by planes shortly after midnight. Normally they stop around 1:30 a.m., but tonight the noise has continued, roughly every three minutes until now. It is 2:20 a.m. We have been told that planes should fly over our neighborhood only in adverse weather. Why were they flying over tonight? I live in Old Louisville on Belgravia Court which is just south of Central Park, between Fourth and Sixth. Do you have any advice about how to cope with such intrusion? Are there any alternatives short of moving? Belgravia Court Louisville, 40208 February 2003 The sky is so clear I can see the stars. Why have the planes buzzed my house on Belgravia Court since before ten? It is nearly 1 a.m. and I know from past experience that I will not be able to sleep until after 2 a.m. when the planes finally will stop. If Louisville wants to be the city where people live work and play, then something must be done about the airport noise. For those of us who live in town, the compatibility studies are a waste of money and time. Try sleeping under a canopy of jets so close their landing lights illuminate your bedroom. The planes come every three minutes, sometimes closer. It is a disaster. Preston Highway Louisville, 40217 February 2003 Would you explain to me what difference it makes what the FAA decides to do about the airport configuration? It will not make any difference because I will still be living under the flight path of the jets, and it doesn't get any better. I had to have all my gutters repaired, they were all loose and falling down from the vibration of the jets flying over my property and thats not all. I have windows cracked and three I had replaced. There are more windows cracked, I cannot afford all these repairs. Who do I send the bill to? As the gutters and windows have already cost $600.00 dollars. That might not seem like a lot of money to you people but to the average working person that is a lot of money. I am fed up with this whole charade the jets are getting bigger and noisier. Why should I continue living like this when your CEO keeps making plans to expand the Airport. I have tried to be patient, I do not want to live in this hellish nightmare any longer. I'm tired of wearing earplugs every night to get any rest. You have destroyed my home and my livelihood. I do not want assistance in selling my property. I want you to buy me out. Then you can sell the property and you will have the air rights and you can do what you want. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 February 2003 It is Sunday night and we are not supposed to have UPS flights on the weekend. But we were awaken about 11:10 p.m. by flights going overhead and it has continued every five minutes or so for about the last hour. Can you check into that and see what is going on? Is UPS running a special run this Sunday night? I do not think these are commercial flights. If so, we must be getting every single flight going into this region over top our heads. Usually, we can count on our weekends being noise free. So far tonight that is not the case. We have a lot of airplane noise going overhead. Bolling Avenue Louisville, 40210 February 2003 I am calling about the flights that have been disturbing me and waking me up in the mornings. I received a 4:00 a.m. wakeup call this morning and that is a little too early for me. In other cities such as Chicago, they have programs to sound proof peoples homes. Is there a program like that here in Louisville? It is primarily the noise from the departing aircraft that bothers me. |
