Date of noise event:: 2/4/00 Time: early morning
Planes taking off to the north off east runway are very loud today. If it was nice weather & you could be outside it would be unbearable. When I bought this house 16 years ago I made sure I was out of the flight path. This is a joke, I want out of here. I have enjoyed working in the yard for years, who cares about soundproofing, I am outside as much as possible whenever the weather permits, soundproof me there!

Date of noise event: 2/1/00. Time: all afternoon
Aircraft have been departing over the non-preferred, heavily populated routes north of the airport all afternoon. I've repeatedly consulted the on-field weather recording, and heard wind readings consistently between 250 and 280 degrees, 8 to 10 knots. It's a clear, sunny day. These conditions are nowhere near the thresholds justifying the excessive noise exposure that results from reversed flow. So why are we doing it?

I have small aircraft and large aircraft over my home in Spencer County. The small ones are the worst and are overhead every two to three minutes during the day. I also would like to know where they are putting the tail numbers I cant find it on the plane anymore.

It's now past 1:30A and I have been trying to get to sleep since before 11:30P. Planes are landing right over my house approximately every minute and a half. It is unbearable. It is infuriating. My nights are no longer mind; it is impossible to get any sleep on the nights these planes are so noisy and so frequent. I was told by a representative of the airport that many of the planes that land here at nights overnight at the airport because it is cheaper to do so here than at other regional airports. Is there any truth to this, and can anything be done to decrease that traffic, which is not essential to our area? Please address this. If it is true, it is outrageous.

It was my understanding that south departures on the west runway are to proceed 3 miles out to the 270 radial before turning out. Most planes seem to follow this plan except I notice almost every evening about 5:20-5:25pm there are jets (most UPS) that make their turn outs as soon as they leave the end of the runway. By doing so, they are flying over heavily populated Southwest Jefferson County areas before they reach less noisy altitudes. Why does this happen? Why don't these pilots follow the guidelines?

I had to endure day and night the noise of low flying aircraft. Going to your airport for years. The noise was very damaging to my health in that I was extremely anxious and alarmed by the vibrations in my house as the aircraft fly lowly over my house. I want money for this tolerance that has caused my family and myself to have more apprehension and anxiety when those flights are re-routed over our house from time-to-time. It has been a real relief not to have to endure those endless flights coming over our house and we do not want those flights to be re-routed over our house again. I am in need of compensation for those years of flights into your airport and am requesting $1 million. Thank you.

Planes are permitted to turn left crosswind early over residential areas. It is happening more and more often. I would like a reply.

The aircraft are abusing runway 11-29. I believe it is a small jet because I hear a "shrill-shrine" during the following times:
1/26/00 Outbound 5:15-5:30 a.m. 2 aircraft
2/5/00 Outbound 12:22 a.m. 1 aircraft
2/8/00 In bound 11:22 p.m. 1 aircraft
2/9/00 Inbound 11:40 p.m. 1 aircraft
2/10/00 Inbound 2:25 p.m. 1 aircraft
2/17/00 Outbound 4:30-5 a.m. 5 aircraft

I want to report the lowest flying airplane you ever did see that zoomed past my house at about 2:30. It was flying from west to east, somewhat along Loi Road. Went to east and then looped around and went back toward radio towers up in here and back toward Louisville. I did see four fuel trails streaming behind that it was so low. Just wanted to let you know.

The planes come over my house day and night. My roof already ruined even though I replaced it four years ago. My house is falling down around me. They tore down Heritage Park where my family lived and didnt do anything with it it is a kick in the teeth. They need to move the airport I choose to live here because it is a good neighborhood but the airplanes are driving me crazy.

With the warm weather that we have had the pleasure in experiencing it has a tendency to get warm in my house when it is time to go to bed. So I would like to be able to open my window in my bedroom a get some fresh air. I have tried to do this for the last two nights and have had to get up after just a few minutes of listening to air planes fly (I think very low) over my house, and turn the air conditioning on. Forgive me but something tell this old country boy that I should not have to turn on my air conditioning in FEBRUARY.I know that I am just letting off steam, but I feel that the residents in southern Indiana are totally over looked. We have know Govermental voting rights that we could use to fight this.End of complaning, thanks

Airplanes are coming straight across the house. We put a new roof on 4 years ago and the oil and gas from the planes is showing on the roof. We just painted the front entrance of the house and the walls are cracking. We dont want to move from the neighborhood, the airport needs to relocate.

What is the airport doing about this noise? The planes are excessively loud around 2-3 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. I would like someone to come out and measure the noise.

Ah, the peace and quiet of a Sunday afternoon - except that heavy jets are departing on the non-preferred route over heavily populated areas north of the airport. Weather reports, Web and on-field, have winds at 250 to 280 degrees, 9 or 10 knots - essentially a crosswind. Clouds are high and broken. The sun's shining. Can there be a logical explanation?

Sunday evening. Planes still taking off over the most heavily populated neighborhoods north of the airport, generating maximum noise exposure in the least preferred area. NOAA and ASOS both read wind from the west, 270 or 280 degrees, 8 to 10 knots, as they have consistently all afternoon. Skies are clear. No indication at all, in other words, that runway direction should be reversed. Why is this happening anyway?

Aircraft continue to take off in a non-preferred pattern to the north tonight. Skies are clear, and the on-field service reports winds "calm". This continued disruption of the most densely populated areas around the airport is difficult to understand.

Once again, aircraft have been taking off all afternoon over the population centers north of the airport, into a, um, west wind. ASOS and NWS readings have quite consistently reported 260-280 degrees 10-15 knots, dry and partly cloudy conditions. Another anomaly?

There is a helicopter that routinely buzzes over my subdivision. Potential clients are concerned that it is a police helicopter and is warding them away. I want it stopped. I have contacted the air traffic control tower and they told me it was a Bowman ATC problem. I havent heard anything back from Bowman. I would like someone to call me.
