Cherokee Terrace Louisville, 40205 December 2000 The planes start at approximately 3:10am just about every morning. One after another they fly over my house in the Cherokee Park area, 2-3 per minute. They continue until I leave for work at 6:00am. Why can't you require these UPS planes to either 1) be equipped with something like a hush- kit, or 2) make a steeper climb (like they do at Orange County Airport in California)? Finally, I what citizens outrage group can I contact to protest this noise pollution? Anonymous December 2000 There was a low flying aircraft in my area on Sunday morning. It frightened us. Westport Road and Hurstbourne Lane Louisville December 2000 The aircraft was so low and so loud that it awoke my family and scared us that it may crash. Felsmere Court Louisville December 2000 The aircraft was extremely low and loud. It awoke my family. We rarely get aircraft over this area and this one was so low that it scared us. Murray Hill Subdivision Louisville December 2000 There was an aircraft so loud and so low that it sounded like a plane crash. Anonymous December 2000 There was an aircraft out here Sunday morning that was so low, my neighbor and I took cover. Who ever is responsible for this should be grounded. It was too low. Anonymous December 2000 My wife saw a military-looking aircraft over our neighborhood Sunday morning that was so low it rattled the windows. I called the Air Guard in Terre Haute and they were off this weekend. They said I should contact you. Goose Creek Louisville December 2000 An aircraft flew too low and I thought it would land on the roof of my house. In the 13 years I have lived here, I have never had such noise. Kennersley Drive Louisville, 40242 December 2000 At 8:15 a.m. a single or two planes flew over my house so low that it rattled the windows, shook the house and scared the kids. I believe it may have been military aircraft and I have complained to the Air National Guard Commander. Anonymous December 2000 Let me be the first to congratulate you on the excellent job you have done. You have succeeded again by intimidating all of us that live north of the Airport. You have succeeded in making our lives a living xxx while you spend Millions renovating the Airport. Merry Xmas. Keep up the good work Boys. Audubon Parkway Louisville, 40213 December 2000 Here is a smattering of on-field wind conditions reported yesterday during northbound departures over local neighborhoods. Once again, these highly disruptive operations occur in theory only when the tailwind for southbound traffic exceeds 7 knots.
As you can see, exactly one reading, at 1610, justifies the operations observed. The rest, on a sunny and clear day, seem inexplicable. I took just a few readings on Christmas Eve, which seemed a particularly perverse time for these disruptions. I'd intended to let that occasion pass, in the spirit of the season; but since I'm on the line, here they are, for the record:
Basically, mild west wind, but still northward they come. Go figure. Navajo Drive New Albany, 47150 December 2000 I'm a resident of New Albany, I have large jets air liner and UPS planes fly direct over my home, the noisy level is very low and the jet planes are gone in a few seconds, I have no problem with that, I don't think there is a noise problem with air traffic over New Albany. The residents needs be complaining about the CSX rail road trains blowing their whistles at long periods just setting on the tracks not even moving, they can be heard for hours at a time blowing continuous and they are very loud, 20 times louder than any aircraft that flying over head. A complainer (xxxx, trying to rally support for awareness shoud complain about the rail road noise but for some reason she wants to complain about anything connect to Louisville. Lake Street Oak Park, Illinois 60302 I am interested in finding out what your plans are for any residential sound insulation for the homeowners surrounding the airport. I have read your studies listed on this web page and find no real answer to this question. You may respond by e-mail if that is more convenient. Delor Avenue Louisville, 40217 December 2000 Date of noise event: every day. Time: all day. How much longer do we have to suffer with this noise? Is anything ever going to become of us? Are we being forgotten about? I personally believe this study thing needs to quiet dragging it's butt and get on with it? The noise is not going to go away, so let's take care of the people who are having to deal with it. I don't want to wait on some more results from tests and opinions from committees, I WANT RESULTS THAT WILL FIX Y NOISE PROBLEM! I did not ask for it and I had no idea it was coming when I bought my home. It's just not fair. Why don't the committees and politicians come live here for a while and see if something doesn't happen real fast to take care of this problem. Please pass this along to everyone and maybe someone will have a heart. Scared to death sometimes, xxx. |
