Preston Hwy Louisville, 40217 August 2002 A plane woke me up last night at about 11:50 p.m. When will we be having the next meeting? I want to find out what the final recommendation from the Study Group is so I can let my attorney know. South Brook Street Louisville, 40214 August 2002 I was wondering if I am located in a noise program area? The noise was real bad over here yesterday afternoon from about 3:00 p.m. until about 5:00 p.m. It is also getting bad again today. That is why I am calling, to check about what is going on. I know it probably has something to do with the wind. Audubon Parkway Louisville, 40213 August 2002 The airport has been in the non-preferred, and highly impacting, north-flow mode most of the afternoon, and for no apparent reason under mild to no wind on a crystal-clear day. I haven't been keeping close book on per-operation conditions, because the case for better and more transparent decision aids is already overwhelming. Nevertheless, at about 5:30 p.m. local time, a single operation occurred that bears another look. This was a small aircraft departing on 35R, but making such a racket it could hardly have met current standards, even going in the right direction. The on-field instrument reported wind at 80 degrees, 8 knots. That's perpendicular to the runway, so the tailwind component is zero. It'd be worth knowing why this aircraft was so noisy, as well as why it was sent north in these conditions. A double whammy. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 August 2002 After a long hiatus, the UPS planes are back buzzing the housetops in Clarksville. We had almost forgotten how disturbing and intrusive they really are. This just strengthens our resolve to work with the group to see that the planes get re-routed out of the neighborhoods and over the expressways and river where they will hopefully not affect too many people like are being affected over in Clarksville. I just wanted to report to you a noisy night in Clarksville I guess the runways have been turned around. I checked the weather report and they were calling winds out of the south. UPS flights are coming out of the north tonight and we had almost taken for granted a good night sleep here. It looks like we are going to have a tough time getting that tonight. S 4th Street Louisville, 40208 August 2002 I wanted to talk to you about the noise. I think last night was probably the worst night of the summer. I called in and talked to someone around midnight and they explained about the winds and so forth in the upper atmosphere. The aircraft are really, really low to the buildings. I was wondering about another flight pattern instead of coming over Old Louisville. What are the alternatives for the aircraft? Preston Hwy Louisville, 40217 August 2002 Those planes were loud again last night. They are going to be sorry they did this. No one wants to live in a noisy polluted place. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 August 2002 I am reporting another night of a lot of plane noise. I think the UPS planes started about 11:00 p.m. So, it has been another noisy, sleepless night over in Clarksville. South 3rd Street Louisville, 40208 August 2002 I am a college student and I have a full-time job. For the past three days, all during the night, every two to three minutes, there is a jet flying over my home. Unless UPS is going to pay my rent, I think it is criminal that they are invading my home on a regular basis. It is no different than if someone was banging on my door all night long keeping me from getting my rest, except the police would come and arrest the person that was invading my home. I work everyday to be able to afford to pay my rent and enjoy my home and I am sick of being violated. Something needs to be done about this. S 4th Street Louisville, 40208 August 2002 I need to talk to someone about airport noise over my house. It has been pretty bad here lately. I have not got very much sleep. I am on record as having called 2 1/2, or 3 years ago when the dual runways became available. I would just like to speak with someone again. I get all the airport newsletters, I understood that we were going to be getting noise abatement type money coming into homes that this is affecting. There was a two-year deadline at that point, when I started calling. That two years is over, we are now into the third year. I live on Forth Street and they gear down right on top of my head at night. I am on the third floor of one of the Victorian homes right across from Central Park. They gear down for landing right on top of my head. I have been up six or seven times a night for the past two weeks since I have been back home. I left home to visit my family in West Virginia because I was not getting any sleep prior to that, when all the rains were coming in. I came back home to it being just as bad. Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 August 2002 We have been awake most of the evening because of UPS planes. I have got my group over here, which a week ago thought I could do no wrong. Now they think I am bum, go figure. I had nothing to do with the planes not flying over and now I have nothing to do with the planes flying over. It is interrupting sleep for a lot of us over here in Southern Indiana. Especially, for us over here in this neighborhood. I just wanted to report this to you and I cannot wait for the weekend to come. Texas Ave Louisville, 40217 September 2002 I live in Germantown directly under the landing path. I was wondering if you had a program where you could get reimbursed for windows that I have installed in my home? Spicewood Drive Clarksville, 47129 August 2002 We went to bed over here around 11:30 p.m. and everything was nice. A little after 12:00 a.m. I shot straight up in bed. It seems like the UPS planes are buzzing our housetops. I don't know what happened, unless the wind suddenly changed direction and they changed the runways around on us. It is noisy now and it is around 12:30 a.m. Just reporting to you, noise pollution in Clarksville tonight. National Turnpike Fairdale, 40118 August 2002 A plane just flew over and it looked very low. I do not know why they have to be so low. S. 26th Street Louisville, 40210 August 2002 A few minutes ago, about 4:20 p.m., a plane flew over and it was very low. I do not know why it was so low. I was in the house and did not actually see it, so I cannot tell you what airline it belonged to. |
