back to NOTES       A subcommittee of the Noise Monitoring Committee was called together on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:00 at the RAA Board Room. Those present were Robert Barker, Mary Rose Evans, Roy Evans, George Hudson, Marvin Pilkenton, and Joe Thomas.

The stated purpose of the meeting was to look at the raw data provided by LFA for each of the monitored sites and compare it to the graphs provided to the Study Group for each site.

While studying these materials the subcommittee determined that some assistance from LFA was needed. The following questions were asked by various members.

    • Please explain why the Lmax points that are graphed don’t seem to match those in the raw data in some cases. Here is a specific examples:

      Site 1-National Turnpike, on 6/3/99 at 12:00
Lmax in the data is 93.5 and Lmax on the graph is about 80.

    • What is the difference in the interval report and the exceedance report and which is plotted in the graph?

    • Why would some monitored Ldn values be above or below the INM predicted values?

    • What kind of correlation does it take for the monitored values to verify the INM?

    • Is there a statistical variation around each contour line?

    • Why does the 2005 map contour not take monitored data into account?

    • Is there a way that Lmax is calculated into overall analysis?

It was agreed that a summary of the questions from this meeting would be presented at the Study Group meeting on December 7.

The meeting ended at 9:15.
