Airport Schedules Kick Off Meeting For Noise Compatibility Study

The Kick Off Meeting for the Regional Airport Authority's Noise Compatibility Study is: Friday, April 16, 1999 6:30 p.m.

Pre-Briefing for New Attendees: 7:00 p.m.

Meeting Commences: Ramada Hotel - Airport East 1921 Bishops Lane - Salon 1

As has been done in the past, a pre-briefing will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. for those who have not previously attended a Noise Compatibility Study session. The Kick Off will begin at 7:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and participate. This is the community's opportunity to provide input into how aircraft operate at Louisville International Airport, especially as it pertains to aircraft noise. The Kick Off meeting provides Leigh Fisher and its consultant team, the Noise Compatibility Study Group and Coordinating Council their first opportunity to get to know each other. Leigh Fisher also will present a draft timetable and approach for conducting and completing the study. Leigh Fisher anticipates the study may take 15 to 18 months. The first assignment for the consultant team is to meet with neighborhoods, airlines, businesses, the airport and other stakeholders to learn what is happening, at present, and what is predicted to occur in the future as it relates to airport operations and aircraft noise. These results will be reported to the Study Group, its committees, and the Coordinating Council for their review and discussion. The consultant may be in a position to summarize these initial findings as early as July.

Directions: Take Watterson Expressway (I-264) to Newburg Road exit; proceed south on Newburg Road (toward Board of Education); turn onto Goldsmith Lane; follow signs to Ramada Hotel on Bishops Lane.)
